Holy Cocktails Batman!

Well, it felt AWESOME to go out and shoot an event on Saturday. I love a change of pace and getting out there where the action is. It was Montessori of Maui's Fire and Ice Gala, their biggest fundraiser of the year and man... was it awesome.

Garnish Events donated the bar and services. Good Lord... if you are having a wedding or event on Maui and don't have Garnish Events booked for your cocktail/beverage service... well... you are doing yourself a disservice.

People would literally gasp when they saw the trays of gorgeous cocktails come out, and they were equally impressed with how delicious everything was. (Even I couldn't resist a taste of the "Winter Thyme" signature cocktail made with organic tangerine, lemon, thyme, honey and gin.)

oh.my.god.

Jett - 10 days old

Talk about the perfect newborn model. Gorgeous little boy who was so mellow! He slept a bunch, but also had some wakeful moments so we could see his beautiful blue eyes. In fact, when I was posing him with his hands under his chin, he opened his eyes and gave me this look like "What do you think you're doing?"... and then promptly went back to sleep. Such a cutie. Here's some of my favorites from this newborn shoot.

Alyssa Newborn Shoot - 8 days old

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing baby Alyssa at 8 days old yesterday. We were both newbies in a way... she's brand new to the world, and I'm brand new to posing newborns.

Her parents are super interesting people (they got married, underwater, at Molokini) and they raise money for orphans in Russia through their organization www.Iorphan.org.

They were really patient with the process and baby Alyssa was so tolerant of my learning curve. Here's a few of my favorites from that session.

I've got the Juju bag (the mother of all camera bags) in muted teal and I seriously LOVE this bag. It can hold literally everything that I need for my shoots, plus my phone, keys, cards, etc. and it doesn't look like a camera bag at all. It's got plenty of easily accessible pockets on the outside, a completely configurable inside, a comfortable shoulder strap and it sits up on it's own(which is huge for me).
